Description

30-SECOND SUMMARY

  • WSD-1 (smoke) and WHD-1 (heat) are wireless detectors on a 444.4 MHz mesh network.
  • They work with the WCP-1 panel, or interconnect on their own.
  • Up to 50 devices per mesh network; 90 dB alarm at 1 m.

A wireless fire alarm system makes installation much easier. With no cable, we save 90% of installing time. System and maintenance costs are also much lower.

SMOKE DETECTOR

The WSD-1 wireless smoke detector works with the FireSmart wireless control panel WCP-1.

It also works as an interconnect device. It can connect with other smoke, heat or combined detectors, even without the control panel. It can also connect to a wireless manual call point and a wireless fire alarm bell.

The detector uses a photoelectric sensor. This sensor is sensitive to larger smoke particles. These appear in the early stage of slow-burning fires, such as those from electrical wires.

HEAT DETECTOR

The WHD-1 has a highly linear thermistor circuit. A specially designed cover protects the thermistor and still allows maximum airflow. The circuit gives a voltage proportional to the ambient temperature.

The sensor enters alarm mode when the temperature passes a preset threshold. The threshold is either a fixed 54 degrees Celsius or a rise of 8 degrees Celsius per minute.

One MESH-Network of interconnected detectors can hold a maximum of 50 devices. These include smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points (MCPs) and wireless horns or sirens.

When used with a fire alarm control panel (FACP), the WHD-1 sends an interrupt signal to the panel in case of a fire alarm.

COMBINATION OF SMOKE & HEAT DETECTOR

A combination detector senses both smoke and abnormal heat in one unit. It combines a photoelectric smoke sensor and a heat sensor.

  • Dual detection: Smoke sensing finds smoldering fires with a lot of smoke. Heat sensing finds fast, flaming fires with less smoke. Together they improve detection.
  • Fewer false alarms: The detector checks both smoke and heat. It can tell steam or dust from a real fire.
  • Versatile installation: It suits places where a smoke detector alone may false-alarm, like kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Cost-effective: One dual-function device can cost less than buying separate smoke and heat detectors.

FEATURES

  • Built-in 10-year replaceable battery.
  • MESH-network of interconnected devices at 444.4 MHz.
  • Loud 90 dB alarm (at 1 m), easy to hear.
  • Designed to reduce false alarms from cooking smoke or steam.
  • Low-battery alert by LED light and sound.
  • Each detector has a unique ID, address and name, set on the WCP-1 or with a handheld programmer.
  • Single test/silence button for simple operation.
  • Connects to the mobile app.

Why wireless detectors are growing in use

  • Easy installation: No hardwiring. Installation is quicker and less invasive, which helps in historic buildings and temporary sites.
  • Flexible and scalable: You can add, move or remove detectors easily. This suits commercial spaces and construction sites.
  • Lower installation cost: No wiring cuts labor and material costs. It also disturbs existing structures and decor less.
  • Advanced technology: Remote monitoring, smart-home integration and alerts to mobile devices.
  • Better batteries: Long-lasting batteries and low-power technology answer earlier battery concerns.
  • Appearance: A streamlined design without bulky wiring.
  • Interconnected alarms: When one detector triggers, all alarms in the network sound.
  • Regulatory support: Some codes increasingly support wireless technology, especially for retrofitting older buildings.
